Ngorongoro/Serengeti/Manyara/Zanzibar

Day 1

Arrive in Kilimanjaro International Airport where our driver guide will transfer you to Arusha City for lunch. Around 1400hrs, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at the camp in Ngorongoro. Meal plan Full board basis.

Day 2

After breakfast we descend down to the ground of the famous Ngorongoro Crater, with picnic lunch for a game drive and enjoy the half day crater tour. The crater (610 meters deep and 260 km squared) is a microcosm of East African scenery and game. Scenic grandeur and stunning views are the hallmark of this wonder of the world. There are 25,000 larger animals within the crater itself, mostly zebra and wildebeest. However, this is undoubtedly the best place to see black rhinos in Tanzania as well as prides of lion that include the magnificent black-maned males. There are lots of colorful flamingoes and a variety of other water birds around the soda lake on the crater floor. The crater is home to more than 100 species of birds which cannot be found in the Serengeti. We will have lunch at the hippo pool picnic site, and later ascend to the rim and have dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge or at a lodge of similar standard if not available. Late afternoon drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3

Enjoy a morning game viewing into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Tanzania’s premier National Park, the Serengeti covers 14 763 sq km’s of plains, kopjes, rivers, forests and woodlands in northern Tanzania. The Serengeti National Park is best known for the Great Migration, when around 1.5 million wildebeest, over 200 000 zebra and 300 000 Thomson’s gazelle stampede across this beautiful wilderness area in search of grazing.

Having a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. Return to your lodge for lunch, before departing to Lake Manyara. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4

After an early breakfast, you will depart for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. This compact game park is best known for its tree-climbing lions, healthy elephant population and thousands of flamingoes. The 325 sq km Manyara is also home to a variety of wildlife species, such as hippo, baboon, buffalo, cheetah, Maasai giraffe and impala. Mid morning, drive back to Arusha with picnic lunch and proceed to airport for departure to Zanzibar.

Day 4

Pickup from Zanzibar airport to Stone town hotel. Overnight in Stone Town on Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 5

Spend days at leisure on the beaches of the East Coast or at the resort’s swimming pool. Scuba diving or diving course for beginners are available (at an additional cost) at most of the beach resorts in Zanzibar. Accommodation on Half Basis is included.

Day 6

Depart for a guided town tour. This tour commences with a visit to Zanzibar’s colorful market. Alive with the buzz of locals bartering fresh vegetables and baskets of tropical fruit, amongst the heady smell of Jack fruit (and many other exotic fruits) we continue on to the site of the cathedral built in 1874. The cathedral signifies a potent time in Zanzibar’s history and stands on the sight of a past slave market, its high altar standing on the exact site of the whipping post. Slavery was abolished in 1873 through a decree passed by the then current Sultan of Zanzibar. From here we visit the residence of the late Sultans of Zanzibar, ‘Tip Tip House’, the Old Fort, ‘Peoples Palace’ and the House of Wonders’, full of intrigue and vivid history from a bygone era. The tour ends with a stroll through the narrow streets of the old stone town, the heart of Zanzibar’s vivacious history with time for shopping.

Also you will have a chance for a spice tour, This involves visiting the spices growing areas to see different spices and to learn their nature, uses and taste some of them right on the spot depending on the season. In addition it involves visits to the famous spices producing area where you can see medicinal, cosmetics, ornamental plants and herbs. Most of the interesting items are cloves, nut Meg, rambutan, lipstick, iodine plant, lemon grass, vanilla, henna, shampoo plant etc. You will have the unique opportunity to purchase these exclusive spices straight from the source.

Day 7

After breakfast transfer to the airport for flight back home.
